We wrześniu w całej Polsce rozpoczyna się nowy rok szkolny. Niesie nie tylko ciężar wiedzy, ale także duchowy kodeks narodu. Na tej zakładce czerwono-biała flaga wygląda jak płynąca krew. Biel symbolizuje szczere dążenie do prawdy, a czerwień uosabia żarliwą wiarę naszych przodków w ochronę wolności. Symbolem narodowym stał się biały orzeł z rozpostartymi skrzydłami, będący duchowym totemem. Jej wznosząca się postawa symbolizuje odwagę pokonywania trudności i wytrwałość w dążeniu do tego, by nigdy się nie poddawać. Jak powiedział polski poeta Miłosz: „Kiedy skrzydła orła przebijają się przez ciemne chmury, ziemia napełnia się światłem”. W Bibliotece Stulecia Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego w Krakowie studenci pierwszego roku zawsze słyszą tę wiadomość, gdy otrzymują zakładkę: „Kiedy wahasz się przed niejasnymi formułami i niepokoi cię ciężka klasyka, spójrz, proszę, na tego białego orła – jego ostre szpony rozdarły mgłę trzech narodowych zagład, a jego skrzydła ostatecznie podtrzymają ideały tych, którzy poszukują wiedzy”. Ta mała zakładka już dawno przestała być tylko praktycznym narzędziem i stała się duchową pochodnią, która oświetla drogę zmagań. Dziś ten czerwono-biały znak rozprzestrzenia się w nauce, sztuce i środowisku akademickim na całym świecie. Przypomina każdemu Polakowi: potęga wiedzy pozwoli kiedyś duchowi narodowemu wzbić się jak biały orzeł przez chmury historii i pisać legendy pod niebem nowej ery.

At this moment, many students have a special bookmark between their books – a bookmark with the Polish national emblem, decorated with a red and white national flag and a white eagle with spread wings. It not only carries the weight of knowledge, but also carries the spiritual code of a nation. In the Centennial Library of Jagiellonian University in Krakow, freshmen always hear such a message when they receive the bookmark: "When you hesitate in front of obscure formulas and are troubled by heavy classics, please gaze at this white eagle – its claws have torn apart the haze of the country's three subjugation, and its wings will eventually hold up the ideals of those who seek knowledge." This small bookmark has long surpassed the meaning of a practical tool and has become a spiritual torch that illuminates the road of struggle. Today, this red and white mark is flapping its wings in the fields of science, art, and academia around the world. It reminds every Pole: the power of knowledge will eventually allow the national spirit to pass through the clouds of history like a white eagle and write legends under the sky of the new era.
