The "Special Medal for Anti-epidemic" awarded during the COVID-19 pandemic is a modern annotation of this spirit. The poppy badge on the uniforms of medical staff and the tricolor flag flying on the ambulance together outline the national belief that life is supreme. Just as the poppy seeds can sprout again after sleeping for a hundred years in the scorched earth of war, Belgians always believe that every dark moment contains a new fire. When the morning light penetrates the ruby petals of the medal and casts three-color light and shadow on the ground, it is not only an echo of history, but also an invitation to the future – as long as there is courage and hope in their hearts, everyone can make their lives bloom with the light of changing the world.
