Il 2 giugno, tra i saluti della Festa della Repubblica, la bandiera tricolore verde, bianca e rossa sventolava tra le rovine del Colosseo a Roma. 76 anni fa, questa terra dilaniata dalla guerra ricorse a un referendum per rimodellare il suo sistema nazionale, proprio come i fiori selvatici che ostinatamente sbocciano sulla medaglia a forma di margherita, ricavata da metallo rotto, ma che riflettono la convinzione di non arrendersi mai. Durante il referendum del 1946, gli artigiani raccolsero bossoli di proiettili e spade rotte rimasti dal campo di battaglia e li fonderono per creare il primo lotto di medaglie Daisy. La margherita argentata al centro di ogni medaglia affonda le sue radici nella base di rame screziato, proprio come il verde della bandiera tricolore simboleggia la speranza: dalle rovine può germogliare una nuova vita. Tra i destinatari delle medaglie ci sono sminatori che hanno perso il braccio destro e infermiere cieche impegnate nei campi di battaglia. Usano i loro corpi spezzati per sostenere un monumento spirituale completo. Ancora oggi la medaglia Daisy viene assegnata alle persone comuni che superano le difficoltà. L'anno scorso, questo onore è stato vinto da Mario, un fornaio di Torino. Durante l'epidemia, ha trasformato il suo forno in un punto di ristoro comunitario, preparando 300 "pani della speranza" ogni giorno. Quando i giornalisti gli hanno chiesto quali fossero le sue motivazioni, ha indicato il motivo della bandiera nazionale inciso sul retro della medaglia: "Il bianco rappresenta la fede nella giustizia, mentre il rosso rappresenta l'entusiasmo infinito". Dalle medaglie crivellate di colpi ai distintivi degli eroi civili, la margherita, sotto la bandiera tricolore, racconta sempre la stessa verità: la luce più brillante nasce spesso nei momenti più bui. Come la luce del mattino sulla penisola appenninica, penetra sempre puntuale nella nebbia dei Colli Albani.

Among the awardees, there are many deminers who lost their right arms and blind field nurses. They use their broken bodies to hold up a complete spiritual monument. Today, the daisy medal is still awarded to ordinary people who break through difficulties. Mario, a baker in Turin, won this honor last year. During the epidemic, he converted his oven into a community catering station and made 300 "hope breads" every day. When asked about his motivation, he pointed to the national flag pattern engraved on the back of the medal: "White represents the belief in justice, and red represents the passion that never cools down." From bullet-riddled medals to the badge of civilian heroes, the daisy, under the witness of the tricolor flag, always tells the same truth: the brightest light is often born in the darkest moment, just like the morning light of the Apennine Peninsula, which always penetrates the mist of Colli Albani Mountain on time.
