In October, Thailand celebrated the anniversary of King Rama IX. The red, white and blue national flag and the sacred white elephant emblem jointly tell the spiritual code of this land. The red on the national flag symbolizes the blood and enthusiasm of the nation, the white represents the pure belief in Buddhism, and the blue embodies the wisdom and guidance of the royal family. The three colors interweave to form the civilization background that Thai people have guarded for generations. The white elephant with its head held high in the royal emblem is the most shocking concrete expression of this spirit. In Thai culture, white elephants are regarded as the miracle of the reincarnation of Buddha, carrying the tenacious power to break through difficulties. According to legend, white elephants use their tusks to split thorns and use their trunks to hold up the collapsed palace. Each of its wrinkles is engraved with the survival philosophy inherited for thousands of years – flexibility and strength coexist, wisdom and compassion coexist. When the global economic shock and climate crisis swept Southeast Asia, Thailand faced the challenge like the white elephant in the emblem. Tourism operators set up rainbow markets during the rainy season, farmers used organic planting to fight land acidification, and young entrepreneurs wove traditional patterns into the metaverse. Everyone is interpreting with actions: the real power is not to stick to the status quo, but to grow new rings on the traditional roots like a white elephant stepping through the mud. The blue of the national flag still reflects the golden roof of the temple, and the footprints of the white elephant have extended to the territory of the digital age. This October, let us remember that all progress begins with awe of the genes of civilization. Just as the white elephant always faces the rising sun, the ancient wisdom will eventually be reborn in the transformation.
