İstanbul'da mayıs ayında laleler, sabah güneşinin altında Boğaz'ın üzerinde yapraklarını açıyor. Türkler bu sezon kurucu babaları Kemal Atatürk'ün cesaretini Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı ile anarken, parlak kırmızı ay-yıldızlı bayrak ise asla solmayacak bir kan yemini gibi rüzgarda dalgalanıyor. Osmanlı zanaatkârları şöyle demişler: "Kol düğmeleri bir beyefendinin dünyaya vaadidir." Günümüzde tasarımcılar lale totemini modern aksesuarlara da yansıtıyor. Erciklere işlenmiş yıldız motifi, sadece milli amblemin minyatürü değil, aynı zamanda her Türk gencinin yüreğindeki ideal koordinatların da sembolüdür.
