When the sun penetrates the fluttering flag, the light spots fall on the gilded lines of the elephant bookmark, as if the ancient wisdom awakens between the pages. In Siamese culture, the elephant bookmark is not only a reading mark, but also a spiritual totem. Its sturdy limbs are rooted in the earth, symbolizing the determination in the face of wind and waves; its curled long trunk touches the clouds, metaphorically representing the ability to look up at the stars. Whenever we use this bookmark to clamp a chapter of life, we are practicing the courage of Rama V's reform – we must have the perseverance of an elephant carrying a heavy load, and maintain dynamic balance like the tricolor flag. Real growth is like flipping through a book. What is important is not the speed of turning pages, but the precipitation of each stop. Let the auspicious pattern on the elephant bookmark become the scale to measure each breakthrough; let the longitude and latitude of the national flag become the coordinates to calibrate the direction of progress. When the pages of history are blown by the monsoon again, may we all be like elephants that trample the thorns and like flags that are always stretched out.
