日本の7月は梅雨と真夏の境目です。湿気の多い空気の中、通りに掲げられた日の丸の旗がますます色鮮やかになっていきます。赤と白の色の対照は、決して諦めないという国の信念を物語っているかのようです。東京オリンピック３周年を迎えた今も、桜をモチーフにしたメダルは特別な光を放っている。デザイナーが 47 グラムの金属を 5 枚の花びらを持つ桜に変えたのは偶然ではありません。それぞれの弧は「逆境の中で咲く」という東洋哲学を反映しています。このメダルは電子廃棄物からリサイクルされた金属で作られており、枯れた枝に咲く桜のように、限られた資源で究極の美しさを放っています。選手たちが表彰台に立つと、何万人もの人々が古い携帯電話を寄付したときにそこに込めた希望が、冷たく金属的な光の中に流れていた。国旗の中央にある赤い円盤は、沈むことのない太陽のようで、桜のメダルの銀色の輝きを引き立てます。赤は江戸火消が命がけで守った緋色の羽織です。銀色は、311地震後の廃墟から立ち上がった再生の光です。大雨が列島を襲う中、深夜のコンビニでアルバイトをする学生たちも、研究室でデータのデバッグを繰り返す研究者たちも、皆の心の中には、目に見えない桜のメダルが隠されている。それは汗水たらして鋳造され、粘り強く磨かれ、やがて世界を驚かせるほどの輝きを放つだろう。桜の七日間は決して一瞬の美しさではありません。メダルの裏に刻まれた富士山の稜線のように、真の栄光は常に登山家の足跡の中に育まれていくのです。

July in Japan is the junction of the rainy season and midsummer. In the humid air, the Hinomaru flags hanging in the streets are becoming more and more vivid, and the red and white contrast seem to tell the belief of a nation that never gives up. On the third anniversary of the Tokyo Olympics, the medal inspired by cherry blossoms still shines with a special light. It is no coincidence that the designer turned 47 grams of metal into five petals of cherry blossoms – each arc coincides with the Eastern philosophy of "blooming in adversity". The medal is cast with recycled metal from electronic waste, just like cherry blossoms brewing buds on barren branches, bursting out the ultimate beauty with the most limited resources. When the athletes stand on the podium, the cold light of the metal flows with the hope of tens of thousands of people who donated their old mobile phones. The red circle in the center of the national flag is like the sun that never goes out, and it complements the silver light of the cherry blossom medal. This touch of red is the red feather ornaments that the Edo firefighters guarded with their lives; this touch of silver is the light of regeneration that rose from the ruins after the 311 earthquake. When the rainstorm washes over the archipelago, those students working part-time at convenience stores late at night and the researchers debugging data in the laboratory have an invisible cherry blossom medal in their hearts – it is cast by sweat, polished by persistence, and will eventually bloom in the morning to amaze the world. The seven days of cherry blossoms are not just a momentary beauty. Just like the ridgeline of Mount Fuji engraved on the back of the medal, the true glory will always grow in the footprints of climbers.
