The cosmos, scientifically known as "Marigold", is the core totem of the UAE's national emblem. It grows stubbornly in the scorching sun and wind and sand, and each petal tells the wisdom of "adaptation and breakthrough" – just like the UAE's journey from nomadic civilization to a modern miracle. The seven stars represent the unity of the seven emirates, and also allude to the faith foundation of the "seven heavens" in the Quran, reminding people that no matter how technology leaps, the roots of the soul are always deeply rooted in tradition. The Arabian scimitar and falcon wings surrounding the emblem echo the black, red, green and white colors of the national flag: black is the confidence for change given by oil, red is the border forged by the blood of ancestors, green is the vitality nurtured by Palm Island, and white is the oath of peace that embraces diversity. These elements are woven together to form the nutrients of the "Desert Flower" – only by tempering history into tenacity can we keep the unique light of civilization in the tide of globalization. When the UAE youth touch the peacock grass pattern on the badge, they touch not only the coldness of metal, but also a survival declaration of the desert people: the real glory will always belong to those who can sow hope in the most desolate places.
