In the celebration of the UAE National Day, the red, green, black and white colors of the national flag spread into a flowing glow, and the peacock cufflinks that were faintly visible between the nationals' suits and leather shoes were interpreting the legend of this land in another language. The leather ropes used to tie camel bells in the desert caravans of our ancestors have become platinum buckles on the shirts of today's young elites; the star tracks that once guided travelers through sandstorms have solidified into shining geometric patterns on cuffs.
