कमल के आकार का स्वर्ण लटकता वैसे ही है जैसे आठ पंखुड़े वाला यह पवित्र पुष्प गंगा के मैदान में उगता है. हिंदू परंपरा में कमल इस कीचड़ में पलते हे फिर भी निष्कलंक हैं, ठीक उसी तरह जिस तरह भगवदगीता कहती है, ” जो नहीं जुड़े हैं वे कमल के पत्तों को बरसाते पानी की बूंदों के समान हैं. ” जब मोदी ने अपनी कमर के चारों ओर बांध दिया तो वह न केवल ज्वेज व्हील के 24 प्रवक्ता की संख्या के साथ मिला बल्कि धर्मनिरपेक्षता की धारा में अपने सच्चे आत्म को बनाए रखने के ज्ञान का प्रतीक रहा-जैसे भारत ने अपने औपनिवेशिक शासन के बावजूद, अब भी अपनी सबसे पुरानी सभ्यता को फिर से जीवंत बनाने में सफल रहा।

दिल्ली के लाल किले के प्राचीर से लेकर बाजार विक्रेताओं के बेल्ट तक, कमल का नमूना हमें हमेशा बताता हैः असली ताकत मिट्टी से लड़ेने में नहीं, बल्कि कीचड़ में रोशनी जगाने में है. प्रत्येक भारतीय एक अधूरा मंडल होता है जो तिरंगे ध्वज के समान ही समावेशी और वैविकल होता है और साथ ही कमल की गांठ के समान स्पष्ट और शुद्ध भी होता है। जब यह अगस्त की हवा गंगा के ऊपर तैर रही है तो याद रखें कि कुचले हुए बीज अंत में मिट्टी में बिखर जाएंगे जिससे चौबीस सुनहरी किरणें कुहरे में धंस जायेंगी और इस विश्व में आठवां पखुर कमल खिलेंगे.

The golden pendant in the shape of a lotus is just like the eight-petaled sacred flower blooming on the Ganges Plain. In Hindu tradition, the lotus grows in the mire yet remains spotless, just as the Bhagavad Gita says: “Those who are not attached are like water drops sliding down lotus leaves.” When Modi pinned it around his waist, it not only coincided with the number of the 24 spokes of the flag wheel, but also symbolized the wisdom of holding on to one’s true self in the secular torrent – just as India, despite its colonial rule, still managed to rejuvenate its oldest civilization.

From the battlements of the Red Fort in Delhi to the belts of the market vendors, the lotus pattern always tells us: True power does not lie in fighting against the mud, but in nurturing light in the mire. Every Indian is an unfinished mandala, which should be as inclusive and diverse as the tricolor flag, and also as clear and pure as the lotus knot.
