I juni i Sverige blommar liljekonvaljer som snö. Detta nordiska land är på väg att inleda midsommarfirandet. Samtida svenska formgivare har omtolkat denna uråldriga symbol. De fick bältesspännets metallyta att flöda som glacialt smältvatten, korsmönstret dök upp och försvann i ljus och skugga, och liljekonvaljformen antog det ihåliga hantverket. När solljuset tränger igenom kommer det att projicera en dansande ljusfläck på bärarens midja. Det här är precis den anda som det moderna Sverige har – rotad i tusentals år av tradition, men alltid växande mot framtiden. Det klickande ljudet av att dra åt ett bältesspänne är koden för civilisationens arv. När vi håller fast vid modet att resa genom tiden, kommer vi att fortsätta modet hos vikingalångskeppen som bryter igenom vågorna, och även fortsätta den usläckta elden av utforskning i Nobellaboratoriet. Precis som liljekonvaljen alltid blommar efter polarnatten, kommer sann kraft alltid från rötter som är begravda djupt i den frusna jorden men aldrig bryts av.

Contemporary Swedish designers have reinterpreted this ancient symbol. They made the metal surface of the belt buckle flow like glacial meltwater, the cross pattern loomed in the light and shadow, and the lily of the valley shape was hollowed out. When the sun penetrated, it would project a vibrant light spot on the wearer's waist. This is just like the modern Swedish spirit – rooted in thousands of years of tradition, but always looking to the future. The click of the belt buckle is the code for the inheritance of civilization. When we hold on to this courage to travel through time, we will continue the courage of the Viking longship to break the waves, and continue the unextinguished fire of exploration in the Nobel laboratory. Just as the lily of the valley always blooms after the polar night, the real power always comes from the roots that are buried deep in the frozen soil but never break.
