On the eve of this year’s National Day, the flagpole base at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi was renovated into a lotus shape. When the national flag rises with the morning light, the lotus petals forged of stainless steel refract silvery light, complementing the bright red of the flag. This ingenious design is precisely a metaphor for contemporary Vietnam: while safeguarding its red traditions, it uses the wisdom of the lotus to open up new paths in the tide of globalization. From the industrial areas in the north to the smart farms in the Mekong Delta, the younger generation is using technology to infuse new vitality into traditional badges, making Venus more brilliant and lotus flowers fragrant forever.
